OUR
COLLECTION
We have approximately 9,000 items. Students may check out printed
materials (books and magazines). Teachers and faculty have access
to printed and non-printed materials (videos, filmstrips, dvds, laser
disks etc.)
AUTOMATION
Five computer terminals run the on-line catalog to help our students
and faculty find books and other resources. Circulation of books
(borrowing, renewing and returning) is also computerized.
WEEKLY LIBRARY VISITS
Each week when your child visits the Library they participate in a
variety of activities. An Information Literacy Skill Activity is
included in every Library visit. A reading selection or other
information is presented to the class and, periodically, students have
the opportunity to share information about a favorite book or
books they have recently read. Along with providing skill
instruction and opportunities to appreciate a variety of literature, we
try to help students develop positive attitudes about the Library Media
Center by providing a welcoming place and an interesting program.
We also work to develop the
attitude that the Library, with its books and other resources, belongs
to everyone at the school - the students and the teachers, not just the
Library Staff. Returning books "on time" so that others may also
have an opportunity to use them is very important.

The
important thing is not so much
that every child should be taught, as that every child should be given
the wish to learn.
